We joined the Citizens’ Committee for Children of New York this morning when they released a new infographic that illustrates key data points affecting the lives of our city’s children. According to the graphic, over half of NYC third graders from low-income families read below grade level, and over a quarter of those students will not graduate on time. More than 500,000 kids—one in three—live in poverty in NYC.
Make sure you scroll to the bottom of the graphic to get the good news—investing in children makes a difference. CCC estimates that for every dollar spent on after-school programs, participants and taxpayers save $3 in future costs.
